"If we teach today as we taught yesterday we rob our children of tomorrow." -- John Dewey
The mission of the Technology Department is to build a solid and comprehensive technology infrastructure, maintain an efficient and effective operating environment, and deliver high quality and timely services that support the School District's mission to enhance student learning and achievement with an emphasis on developing knowledge and skills that will be required of a 21st century citizen by providing each student and teacher with direct, consistent access to 21st century learning tools.
In the 2011-2012 academic year, Eastland expanded the district's Digital Conversion Program by implementing a 1:1 for our 9th–12th grade students. Each student was assigned a laptop and, with parent permission, took their laptops home. The 1:1 program will continue in the 2012-2013 academic school year. Our mission in implementing this program is to provide a digitally-rich, student-centered environment that promotes creativity and critical thinking in learning. The project will move down to grade 3 in the 2013 – 2014 academic year.
